Reactant-activation impact

Oil recovery enhancement by reactant activation impact method on OMV Petrom fields (Romania)

Reactant-activation impact (RAI-NTS) is a modern, highly effective method of enhanced oil recovery. RAI-NTS refers to the combined EOR and significantly exceeds the effectiveness of many methods that increase oil production. Steady increase in oil recovery index is achieved even at the fields with difficult operating conditions, where using other EOR methods is impossible or unprofitable.

The basis of RAI-NTS is the principle of direct character change of physical and chemical interaction in the system "rock - saturating fluid" in formation vast zone surrounding the wells. RAI-NTS implemented through the integrated application of a special working agent cyclic injections in small concentrations and subsequent low-frequency impacts on oil reservoir from injection wellhead. This increases conveyance speed of formation fluids and improve displacing power fluid injected. Accordingly, increasing as formation surface efficiency by water flood influx on thickness and oil recovery factor. As a result, in work involved previously not drained areas of deposits and oil recovery index increasing.

RAI-NTS SOLVES THE PROBLEM OF ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY BY INCREASING:

  • injection capacity
  • producing wells productiveness

Using safe working agent in bottomhole formation zone treatment and also collection of gas-liquid mixture waste in a special separator-muffler provides environmentally friendly reactant activation impact. This allows using RAI-NTS for enhanced oil recovery at sites with heightened safety requirements due to closely-spaced aquifers.

During the bottomhole zone treatment using RAI-NTS, in formation is not formed artificial nonuniformities (cracks, etc.), which excludes the breakthrough of injected water to the producing wells, and boosts the efficiency of injection system.

The principle underlying technology and method of its implementation determine RAI-NTS main advantages in comparison with other methods of enhanced oil recovery.

RAI-NTS TECHNOLOGY BENEFITS:

  • high-performance: the average duration of impact effect - 19 months; average incremental oil production - 5700 tons per one well operation;
  • recurrence of high results even with multiple application at the same site;
  • no negative impact on well structure;
  • absence of troubles in the formation;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • minimal interference in the planned production process of oil production;
  • short duration of the treatment period.
