Tubing diagnostics

Tubing diagnostics sections in the stationary and mobile plants for tubing repair

Automated line for non-destructive testing and tubing diagnostics is designed to identify tubing defects of different nature and orientation, control tubing wall thickness, determine pipe length and metal strength group.

METHODS USED FOR TUBING DIAGNOSIS:

  • magnetic-induction;
  • electromagnetic acoustic (ultrasonic non-contact);
  • eddy-current.
  • SPECIFICATIONS AUTOMATED LINE OF TUBING DIAGNOSIS:

    • measurement errors of pipes wall thickness (for pipe wall thickness from 3 to 15 mm) mm - ± 0,25;
    • flaw-detection sensitivity - according to GOST 633-80, API, DIN;
    • pipe motion speed under control, m/s - from 0.4 to 0.6;
    • tubing length measurement error,% - less than 0.1;
    • overall dimensions of plant equipment, m - 8,5 *1,5*1,8.

    LINE EQUIPMENT OF NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING AND TUBING DIAGNOSTICS

    Non-destructive testing and tubing diagnostic equipment

    Instruments included in the automatic line for tubing diagnostic, complement each other, identifying all major types of tubing defects and controlling parameters such as wall thickness, pipe length, strength group. Tubing non-destructive testing is carried out by contactless method that greatly increases equipment reliability, allows abandon the contacting fluid and reduces expenditures for consumables.

    The line for nondestructive testing and tubing diagnostics consists of magneto-induction defectoscope ID-3, a rotary magneto-induction defectoscope MID-NT 2P, a device for automatic control of tubing walls thickness AKT-3, eddy-current structurescope VS-98P. Tubing diagnostics section software sets the parameters of instruments performance, processes the primary data and spills to the central computer current information and control results. Current information is displayed on the monitor screen. Data on each pipe are entered in the passport and stored in the archive. As a result of tubing defectoscopy is carried out pipes sorting on proper, repairable and scrape. Diagnostic devices displays data about defects coordinates and automatically determine the pipe sections entitled to cut-off. Due to the exact defects coordinate determination, technological waste from tubing repair are minimized.

    BENEFITS OF AUTOMATED LINE FOR TUBING DIAGNOSIS AND NDT:

    • high speed control;
    • high integrity due to different control methods integration;
    • automatic self-test devices before starting work;
    • automatic tuning out from speed influence on the control results;
    • automatic detection of the pipe sections entitled to cut-off;
    • noncontact inspection with working gap up to 10 mm;
    • the ability to determine pipes rejection levels on thickness and equivalent defects by agreed values with the Consumer;
    • visualising tubing diagnostics process;
    • complete documentation and tubing diagnostic results storage.
